A Modern Take on the Classic Pearl Necklaces
When you think of pearl necklaces, you probably conjure up images of your grandmother's pearls, Audrey Hepburn and other classic vintage beauties. After all, growing up, we were taught that pearl necklaces were part of looking the proper part. Today, pearl necklaces are as popular as ever, thanks to the trendsetters like Michelle Obama. Although the necklaces are as timeless and beautiful as always, the styles have been updated to reflect a more modern twist.
Multi-strand pearl necklaces are all the rage right now. Whether you choose one necklace to wrap, or several different ones, the look is all about layering. Celebs like Kate Bosworth, Mischa Barton and Madonna choose to twist one strand to create several necklaces. Ashlee Simpson likes to go a little rock and roll with her pearls, twisting a strand to create a choker and a long necklace.
If you prefer shorter necklaces, then consider a pearl choker. Even Helen Mirren is on the trend, showing that age has nothing to do with great style. For a look that you can wear to the office, choose jumbo gumball size pearls that will add interest to a polished outfit.
Although traditional pearls are quite beautiful, it's time to add a little color to spice up your look. Experiment with pearls of different hue like silver, gold or pink. These eye catching stones are a new take on an old favorite. Or, if you're looking for something a little edgier, try a necklace that is intertwined with twisted chains. This contrast between romantic and edgy is the perfect combination to take you from day to night.
Pearl necklaces have always been a favorite of brides and bridesmaid, but if you're looking to get married, opt for an updated look with floating pearls or an asymmetrical necklace. Your bridal party will look amazing and super stylish.
