Gospel Music - From Start to Now
Gospel – the famous music all around the world! Gospel is one genre of music that needs to be seen and heard. It makes it’s listeners a feel of heaven on the earth. Everybody seems to know the history of anything they do like. The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of Gospel music varies according to culture and social context. There are many studies about the history of Gospel music. Some people believe that gospel music first came out of African-American churches in the first quarter of the 19th century. Some believe that it was sung by predominately white Southern Gospel artists. This argument is based more on geography than fact.By the history point of view, the gospel music has a long and wide history.
The story of history of the gospel music starts from 18th century. This was an era where hymns were lined and repeated in a call and response fashion. On the other hand, the spiritual and work songs of the African slaves came along. Slaves were prohibited and punished by their masters for offending. The sharp division between black and white America, particularly black and white churches, have kept the two apart. While those divisions have lessened slightly in the past fifty years, the two traditions are still distinct. The Slaves were not able to create their own hymns and had to do that with their masters in such condition. But it could not stop them. They organized the secret meetings and together they created their own worship hymns. Gospel music came into picture now.
Gospel music was undergone through social changes in United States during 1900 to 1930. In this time the gospel was spreading around the country from the south with black African Americans. After this time some noted people who are given credits for the success of the gospel music were came into picture.
The first is Thomas A. Dorsy (1899-1993). He was a composer of such standards as “There Will Be Pease in the Valley”. He is considered as “Father of Gospel Music” by many gospel devotees. He was also consummate musician and as a young man accompanied some of the most famous blues singers of all time-specially, Bessie Smith (1894-1937) and Ma Rainy (1886-1939). He also arranged and composed blues tunes. Dorsey was a planter. The fruits of that harvest were the exceptional singers who spread gospel around the country and indeed the world in the years that followed--Mahalia Jackson (1911-1972), Clara Ward(1924-1973) and James Cleveland(1931-1991) are but a few.
Gospel music is still being more popular nowadays. Many gospel musicians are attempting to introduce the gospel music to the mainstream audience. There are many gospel musicians which play their instruments and worship god. They are true devotees of god. Gospel singers play a vital role in gospel music by singing the prayers to the god.
The combination of Singers Musicians and playing musical instruments make the environment religious. Gospel music is such a great music all around the world.

Handcrafted Shaker Musical Instrument (Ghana) $51.93 Add the mystery of ancient Africa to your decor with Worldstock's hand-carved shaker instrument. Native Africans call these instruments 'shakers' because all one has to do is simply shake them to produce beautiful music. Handmade by talented artisans in Kumasi, Ghana, these instruments are a common site at a variety of African festivals. The Story Behind the Product Nana was born to a family of 9 children in the town of Kumasi in Ghana, West Africa. His parents divorced when he was only 8 years old and Nana became so rebellious that his mother sent him to live with his father in Tamale (in the Northern region of Ghana) when Nana was 12 years old. It was there that he developed an interest in art. He dropped out of school when he was 14 and started training with a master carver in Tamale. In 2000 Nana began selling his products through Worldstock. Nana is now married with 3 children and lives in Accra, Ghana. He is now a master carver with his own shop and 10 employees. Nana?s life has been so improved since he began working with Worldstock that he named his son after his contact at Overtsock.com. What is Worldstock?
